Hamilton Watch Repair – Valjoux 7750

A nice Hamilton watch with a Valjoux 7750 movement in for repair and regulation.

The Hamilton Watch Company was formed in 1892 in Lancaster, America as a high quality watch brand said to be named after James Hamilton (a local land owner). Hamilton became popular for its railway watches and went on to manufacture military watches and Marine Chronometers during WW2.

Hamilton is now a subsidiary of the Swatch Group of companies and utilises their ETA watch movements.

This watch was not keeping time (about 300 seconds a day loss on my machine) and was not winding correctly due to a worn ballrace.

The ballrace (rotor bearing) is worn and causing the oscillating weight (rotor) to wobble. As the 7750 only winds in one direction this has a very profound effect on the winding of the watch. So I am replacing it. This happens a lot on 7750’s
